Yep, Jared picked up our tickets, he was walked through where to stand, we sat around for a while and waited, given a mic, he sang the National Anthem, people clapped, and we walked out to go to Bible Study.
Next time he sings maybe we will stay for the game. Haha. It was quite a rush. And I wasn't even singing. But I did get to go out on the field and take picture of him singing with the shorebird's photographer. How much fun is that?!? I wish I had known how to use Hannah's camera a little better. But if you want to see photos go to Hannah's blog. w00t. I think the picture of him on the scoreboard is pretty nifty. Woohoo.

I was remembering back to when I had surgery and I was too sick, from the morphine and other random drugs, to eat anything, but a package of goldfish, Mrs. Taylors cheese soup (without the cabbage), and six full sized Mr. Goodbars. Strong pain killers always make me upset to my stomach and I can't wait to get off of them and just take ibuprofen.

This is some really cool bridge I found.The Millau Viaduct (French: le Viaduc de Millau) is a cable-stayed road bridge that spans the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in southern France. Designed by French bridge engineer Michel Virlogeux in collaboration with British architect Norman Foster, it is the tallest vehicular bridge in the world, with one pier's summit at 341 metres (1,118 ft)—slightly higher than the Eiffel Tower and only 40 m (132 ft) shorter than the Empire State Building. It was formally opened on 14 December 2004 and opened to traffic on 16 December 2004.

So I check it out and followed a few other blogs to this other blog and found this picture on the side. It was next to some instructions on how to make sandals out of old tires. What an interesting idea. I think this is very creative.

After four weeks of waiting, I have finally been welcomed into the Clark School of Engineering at University of Maryland.
The moral of this story is, if you want something done, you have to call and bug people until they finally grow tired of you and do what you want, just to get rid of you. Haha.

Yesterday I felt so relieved to be finished my quantum exam and not only finished satisfied with how I think I did (that has never happened on a McKenzie exam, ever... I have always left before with this sinking feeling in my stomach that only gets worse as he takes over three weeks to get the exams back to you). But not yesterday, I practically pranced out of school yesterday. I ran into Mrs. Perkins on the way out the door and talking to her for a while. Went to work. Came home and made a monkey bread cake for Avery, since I have been promising to do this since her birthday way back in October (I think).
I went to choir, sang some Easter songs. Our church choir is hilarious. They just are. You have to be there to experience the weirdness of a choir practice. They all thought I would stop coming when Jared start a Thursday night night class and couldn't come to choir. But I really do look forward to seeing all these dear people and laughing at whatever they do each time. The first practice I ever went to I was handed a jar of bubbles and told to blow them when Avery gave the signal. Yes, that was my start of choir. It was some practical joke that the choir was playing on Miss Mae. And since then it has only been more fun.
After choir I went to pick up Anna, Rachel, and Mackenzee from volleyball. And we got Icees and rode on the new road to MacKenzee's house. And she had to break into the house. And then I came home went to bed so that I could get up this morning and come to work. Which is where I am now and I will be here until around 12. Then I need to stop by Home Depot and get insulation and duct tape to make this solar cooker of ours. And I think I am going to make dinner tonight. Chicken Pot Pie, maybe. Maybe I will clean my car and my room and do some homework as well.
This is really boring. But it is all I have today. Boy, I am happy and thrilled that my Quantum Exam is over!!! I feel so wonderful. Wow, it is great to know I don't have to take another one of his exams until the end of the semester. Woohoo.

It is also a fundamental branch of theoretical physics that replaces Newtonian mechanics and classical electromagnetism at the atomic and subatomic levels. May I count my many blessings and stop looking at school.
Jared told me a story that Mrs. Bailey told in Sunday School. She overheard a bunch of people complaining behind the counter at walmart and then one of the women spoke up and said, "I won't let Wal-Mart steal my joy!"
Hmmmm, what is stealing my joy? That is easy. SCHOOL. Nothing should steal my joy. May I remember this. I have to admit I was enjoying feeling miserable about going back to school today and I was slightly annoyed that Jared was ruining my pity party. But I cheered up a bit last night and decided not to let school get me down. I wrote out my many blessings and it made me stop thinking of myself and my "trouble". But this morning I started feeling sorry for myself again and I was sort of annoyed that I couldn't stop thinking about this woman at walmart, who I hadn't even seen and her words that kept popping into my head. Life is a daily struggle. We fall down and God lifts us up again. Thanks to God for friends that encourage you to do what is right and pleasing to God. What a blessing.

7 Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
8 "But if it were I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.
9 He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.
27 "We have examined this, and it is true! So hear it and apply it to yourself."
Blessed be the name of the Lord who does more than we could ask or expect. Why should you worry about what you will eat or wear or LIVE, God knows all of this! It is amazing to see the way God blesses His children, even when they don't deserve it. Why don't I trust him more? He provides again and again. I am just amazed that he loves me that much. I make have a house to stay at when I go to College Park. Mom told me this last night and I started to cry. Our God is so good. He cares so much. This encourages me greatly. Thank you Mr. Howard for making my month. What a huge blessing.
Please keep praying for all the details of college to fall into place. And thank God for his goodness and mercy. What a wonderful savior is Jesus my Lord. Wow.

Everytime I look around University of Maryland's website I get more and more excited about going there for my last two years of college, especially when I look at the Engineering Courses I will be taking. Sure, they will be hard, but I'm sort of used to that by now. The only thing that I wish could get sorted out right now is housing. So if you wouldn't mind praying that I would find just the right housing or roomate and all that fun stuff. I know, God works all things to the good of those who are called according to his purpose. But I sure would like to know his plan right now. I guess it is just another way to teach me patience. God help me.

Yesterday we interesting. I spent the morning cleaning my room and throwing away countless notebooks filled with schoolwork. Why do I ever need to see these again?!? Then I tried to do dynamics homework, but after spending two hours on one problem and getting the wrong answer in the end and then working on another problem for an hour and not knowing where to go with it, I decided to call it quits and go help Hannah move all of her presents from last nights wedding shower. There were at least 90 people there Monday night at her shower. YES, I COUNTED... Yes, I am weird. I know. It was pretty funny because we loaded Hannah's car full of stuff and I kept thinking there is no way I need the van to help drive stuff down to sharptown there is probably like two bags left. And I would walk back to the room and in would still be full. DANG. We filled my whole van and her car with stuff. Beautiful stuff. Shiny bowls, festive plates, colorful cups, cute spoons, amazing quilts, funny medicine. Haha. It was great. I had so much fun carrying all the stuff out and then back into Patricks apartment. It was like Christmas and my birthday all mixed together and I wasn't even getting anything. Heh. Wow. I love our church family. What great people.
Then I drove my HUGE van over to Stefs and we pigged out on Oreo Pie and watched movies... or a movie. We always pick two movies out and then are too tired to watch the second one. We are getting old. So we went to bed at 9:30 and woke up at 6:30 this morning and went off to work. We are getting so old and adultish it is sort of scary. I have to put in here that Steffy would make an awesome roommate. I would share an apartment with her anytime. She cleans up like her mother. Haha. I love that girl!
So now I am at work and I am going to go do some Salary Analysis and then do some research for this term paper. I will feel much better when that is over with. Hooray.

I stumbled upon the World Rock, Paper, Scissors Society today. The banner on their site says, "Serving the needs of decision makers since 1918." I think some of these stickers are fine. Saturday my whole family left our house be 6:15 and traveled up to Lancaster to go to a reptile show. I was probably the second most interested in this, of course Luke was the most. Haha. So we all piled into the van with our pillows and blanets and slept until Mom hit the roads of PA and we all got sick. Bunches of fun. A van full of kids feeling carsick and Mom offering us Chocolate covered chex mix. Heh.
We arrived at the Reptile Show (haha, Anna) and wandered around and looked at the many different animals. There were rattlesnacks, and copperheads, and cottenmouths, and all sorts of geckos and lizards, turtles, and big ugly frogs. The cutest things there were the baby alligators! Sarah, Anna, and I got to hold them. They were so cute with their big head. And of course they sold rodents or all shapes and sizes, frozen and alive. Hope spent most of her time with the rabbits. There was this one rabbit that looked like it could be from Watership Down. It was HUGE. I tried to get a photo, but the camera phone just doesn't do it justice. But I did get a picture of this sign. It made me laugh.
And here is a picture of me in the van on the way back. Looking a little more awake then I did in the morning.

Sunday Sunday. Sunday Jared and I were invited down to spend the day with Hannah and Patrick. Woohoo! We sat down to dinner and Jared says, "I feel like an adult." Ha. I love my little Hannah! I had so much fun yesterday just laughing and enjoying the beautiful day. We got to explore a little of Sharptown and visit the Marshners neat home. Hannah made us a wonderful dinner or poppyseed chicken and green beans!!! And since I don't like raw vegatables she cut up cheese and crackers for snacks. Hannah is so sweet! 75 days to her wedding. Man, I am excited for her! YAY! Thanks for a great start to spring break. I love you dearly.
Oh and here is a picture of Jared and I at Hannah and Pat's cute little house. I was playing with the settings and changed it to cartoon because we are such goobers.
And here is the real photo. Yeah this was taken with the camera phone again. We both have digitals cameras and we still don't ever think to bring them and take real, nice photos. Ah well. This will do. Look at my eyes. They are all droopy. Heh. Fun day.

On Friday I had to run down to UMES to drop off a notebook so it could get graded. So I talked Anna into going with me. Hooray for Anna to keep me company. We drove down there and dropped off my notebook, then we went to the Gospel shop to look at Bibles for me, then to subway for lunch, and then to Ritas!!! But they were out of Mango. :( WHAT?!?! And after then we went on to visit MacKenzee at work at Benjamins Wear It Again and Sarah at Chickfila. Then we went home and I read for a while and then Mom and Dad took Jared and I out to dinner at Harrison's Harbor Watch. The view was really great and the food was pretty good. For the price, I enjoy my dear La Tolteca much more!!! Haha. But I wasn't paying so, that was nice. Yay, for my sweet parents and their nice treat. And I thought this picture of Anna was cute. I took it with my phone when she was laughing. Haha.

Sarah told me to read Revelation because it would remind me that we did know the end of the story and not to lose hope.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
So I picked it up the other day and was flipping through. Some how I read chapter 19 and verse 8 really stuck out to me. So I thought I would leave it with you for the weekend and as much of spring break that I don't post.
It says:
She is permitted to wear the finest white linen." (Fine linen represents the good deeds done by the people of God.)
Did you get that? She is PERMITTED. We shouldn't be allowed.
Isaiah 64:6 "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; "
But still God loves us enough to send His son, to die for us, so that we can be clean. So that we can be like His children. So that we can wear the finest white linen. Is that not amazing love? I cannot comprehend this, it is too great for my mind.
Here is the whole passage. There is almost too much here to take it. You have to think about it and come back to parts of it. It is too wondrous for my little brain to comprehend. Aren't you glad you don't have to understand it all?!?

4 Then the twenty-four elders and the four living beings fell down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. They cried out, "Amen! Hallelujah!"
5 And from the throne came a voice that said, "Praise our God, all his servants, from the least to the greatest, all who fear him."
6 Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a huge crowd, or the roar of mighty ocean waves, or the crash of loud thunder: "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
7 Let us be glad and rejoice and honor him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.
8 She is permitted to wear the finest white linen." (Fine linen represents the good deeds done by the people of God.)

I love Hannah, Lasagna, and Angel Food!!!
Thanks Hannah and Patrick for inviting me for lunch in Sharptown. I was planning on watching UNC play in the championship game this afternoon and then head off to school. But they lost last night so I decided to just go to school and have no fun. But thanks to Jared for asking me to go with him. And thanks to my favorite Hannah Shelton, soon to be Hannah Singer (*excitement*), for a wondeful dinner!!! One of my favorite dishes ever, lasagna. I LOVE LASAGNA!!! Yum! And to top off the meal we had angel food cake with strawberries. You don't understand how much I love Angel Food cake. I used to beg for it to be made as my birthday cake, with strawberries.
Hannah is awesome!!! :)
I miss my Hannah and random trips to Lowes. :/ Boo school. But I am so thankful to be able to spend the time with you! Thanks for inviting me. Love you.
Now if I can finish this homework it will be a perfect day.
Man, it is beautiful outside.

This post is dedicated to the cutest little shopping carts!!
Food Lion now has smaller shopping carts for when you are only going in for a few items. These carts are completely adorable and chic. I feel entirely British when I go shopping now! I've been meaning to post about them for the past few weeks, but I kept forgetting. So here is to the little shopping cart! May there always be at least on that is free when I go to Food Lion.
I am quite impressed with Food Lion and their newly designed stores, but especially these cute little carts. :)

Mission Conference 2006 - AWESOME beyond AWESOME!!!!
Our speaker this year is incredible. He is so funny and challenging. And Larry Trotter was excellent last night. So was Mary Doss (I think that is her last name). She was so sweet. I can't wait to hear Bill and Bev Smith on Sunday. They seem like really neat people. We took on a new missionary family this year, I can't spell their last name, but he is a bush pilot and she is a mechanic. How sweet is that. And they are with Wycliff Bible Translators. How exciting we now have 17 missionaries in other countries and 6 in the US. I love our church and my fellow MAT team members. Wonderful start to a conference guys. Although I would love to have a fellowship hall... part of the fun is working to set of tables and take down chairs. :)
As Mrs. Shelton said to me last night, and I said to my mother, "I feel sorry for all the people that miss out on our missions conferences. They are so good."
Thanks to everyone that stayed to help take down chairs and set up chairs and all the girls for helping serve the food. Great job gals. You all are great runners and servers and drink refillers. Love you all.

You know you are a homeschooler when ...
(I can make fun of this because I was homeschool my entire life)
I want your comments!!! I know there are lots of good ones. Here are just a few to start you off.
* You and all of your sibling's names can be found in the genealogy of Christ in Matthew 1.
* You have many siblings. Your mom sometimes gets your names confused. You've given up that anyone outside the family will ever remember your name.
* You go to the library and come out with more that your weight in books. And the librarian knows your name.
* You go shopping and the cashier and many others say, "Too sick to go to school today, huh?"
* Your brothers all wear their jeans high enough so that you can see several inches of their socks
* You and your sisters have matching outfits
* You drive a large van
* Your mother still wears the same pair of glasses from twenty years ago.
* She also wears jean dresses, skirts, and jackets with sneakers. :) And if not in jean, a jumper of some sort is a must.
* You sleep in late, watch a tv, surf the internet, and still finish school early.
* You think that reading history is best accomplished while lying on the floor (sometimes you sleep through it, sometimes your mother does too).
* You correct your own math lessons. wOOt saxon!
* You will actually talk to grown ups at a family gathering and are actually patient with kids half your age.
* Every time the phone rings it is an automatic 10 minute break, so the teacher can answer the phone.
* You can take off a day, if you do extra work in your free time the day before.
* You go to school in your pajamas.
* Your dining room and living room now have a computer, copy machine and many book shelves and there are educational posters and maps all over the walls
* Most of April and May are spend doing school outside. Not that you can really call it school. But your mother says that whatever you are doing outside counts as school.
* Baking cookies counts as math and science. And sometimes english if it has been a long week
Anyhow, I have to get to class. Think up some more. :)

* You have many siblings. Your mom sometimes gets your names confused. You've given up that anyone outside the family will ever remember your name.
* You go to the library and come out with more that your weight in books. And the librarian knows your name.

* Your brothers all wear their jeans high enough so that you can see several inches of their socks
* You and your sisters have matching outfits
* You drive a large van
* Your mother still wears the same pair of glasses from twenty years ago.
* She also wears jean dresses, skirts, and jackets with sneakers. :) And if not in jean, a jumper of some sort is a must.
* You sleep in late, watch a tv, surf the internet, and still finish school early.
* You think that reading history is best accomplished while lying on the floor (sometimes you sleep through it, sometimes your mother does too).
* You correct your own math lessons. wOOt saxon!
* You will actually talk to grown ups at a family gathering and are actually patient with kids half your age.
* Every time the phone rings it is an automatic 10 minute break, so the teacher can answer the phone.
* You can take off a day, if you do extra work in your free time the day before.
* You go to school in your pajamas.
* Your dining room and living room now have a computer, copy machine and many book shelves and there are educational posters and maps all over the walls
* Most of April and May are spend doing school outside. Not that you can really call it school. But your mother says that whatever you are doing outside counts as school.
* Baking cookies counts as math and science. And sometimes english if it has been a long week
Anyhow, I have to get to class. Think up some more. :)

School keeps me humble.
I work so hard, but I can never reach perfection. It is a great reminder that I need to depend on God. At least that is now what I get out of this. It used to really annoy me that I tried so hard and failed to be perfect, but now I am quite thankful that I never am perfect. It really is a great reminder to trust God. I've never have a perfect 4.0 and probably never will and I have never had a perfect 100 on any real exam (quizes don't count, they are easy, if you study right).
I continued in this trend today with a 99 on my history exam.
Bhah, so close.

I think it is really neat how my friends are all over the globe making a difference for God. It is neat to see how God works in our lives. It is encouraging to read stories from Ukraine, Nepal, Africa, and China. By the way, Australia and South America are still open for exploration. Just in case YOU were thinking about going somewhere.
The missions conference starts this weekend, on friday, 6pm at the church.
The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few.

I walked into my history exam this morning after stuffing my head for countless hours with Elizabethan Poor Laws, Roman Inquisitions, The Spanish Armada, English Civil War, The Tutor-Stuart dynasty, exploration of China, Japan, and India and more. I didn't study that hard for Reformation stuff because I thought there was no way my teacher would ask me to explain the Reformation. So I sit down and look at my exam and I turn to the back of the exam, past all the multiple choice questions, and matchings. I turn eagerly to the back to see what kind of essay I will have to write. Glory be. I looked and the first choice was "Explain the Reformation in the church. What lead to it? And how did the Catholic Church deal with it?"

BLASTED ALL! I was so happy. I broke into a huge grin and quickly filled in all 30 multiple choice questions, matched 10 different things and started my essay. I just started writing and kept writing and writing. I sit in the front row so I see all these people come up and turn in their exams. I start page two, more people finish and leave. I start page three and four, even more people leave. I look up as I start page five on the Reformation and there is no one left in the class. Heh. So I quickly finished the essay and turned it in. I guess no one really enjoys the Reformation as much as I do. I could have written a lot more, but I thought my professor would appreciate that I cut it short at five pages. He'll have fun grading that.
I kept thinking of what one of the guys in my thermo class told me yesterday. We all got to UMES yesterday and we had done our homework, I mean why wouldn't we? The four of us always do our homework. Anyhow, we get there and the three students from UMES ask us if we did our homework. And of course we say yes and looked puzzled as they tell us that they haven't and we shouldn't. We are all like, what the crap. The homework for thermo is our easiest homework load of any of our physics or engineering classes yet. Anyhow, they go on to complain about how they never turn homework in on time and we shouldn't do it either. We all looked at each other and after they left, one of the guys goes, "We are going to mess them up so much. He is going to have to grade this class on two different grading scales if he wants them to pass." Haha. 'Tis true tis true. It was funny because we were all thinking it, but none of us wanted to say it.
Anyhow, no one will probably find that funny, but me. But anyhow. Enjoy the slightly warmer weather then yesterday. As Linnea told me last night, "It can only get warmer!!!" WOOHOO.

This has made me quite sad. My Dad and Mom used to work with the dearest couple ever. They have been retired for quite a few years now. Well, I found out today that "Uncle" Emmett died Monday. I can't imagine how much pain "Aunt" Barbara is in. I would appreciate it and I know she would if you would keep here in your prayers.
My parents always told me stories about how much fun these two people were. I regret that I didn't know them as well as my parents did, but still the 19 years that I knew them was enough to assure me that they were extremely special people. I would love to be a little bit of what they were to each other and to the many around them. They were so encouraging and real. You don't meet that many people anymore that are real. You know that when they say something they really mean it. Aunt Barbara and Uncle Emmett enjoyed giving to and encouraging others. She always had cookies made for us when we came over. They always treated my siblings and I like their grandkids. They came to graduate parties and birthdays and Christmas. I will remember them for all time for taking us strawberry picking every year. Aunt Barbara would always take pictures of all of us. All our curls out of order with strawberry juice all over our faces. Every year we would try to find a bigger strawberry then Uncle Emmett. I really can't believe he is gone. I am really in shock right now. I thought they would be here forever. And in a second you find out one of them is gone.
They were also the first people to babysit me because my parents didn't trust anyone else with their new daughter. I wanted to post pictures from that night because they are so cute, but we don't have a scanner. I will try to work on that this weekend.
If you could keep her in your prayers I would so greatly appreciate it. I am in shock. Everytime some I know dies I start thinking about how short life is. They were both so full of life. I didn't expect either of them to die so soon. I hope I can be like them when I get older. I respected them both immensely.
However, he is in a much better place now.
But it still makes me sad.
I rarely feel like sitting down and just crying, but all day I have felt like just curling up and sobbing. It has been extremely hard to study for this blasted history exam.
*edit* My dear Mother and her wonderful way with words posted about this on her blog. I don't do this wonderful couple justice... go read her blog and maybe you will get a glimpse of how amazing these two were.

Stephanie and I went and played soccer at Crowns last night. First I want to say that Crowns is huge and the grassy stuff is seriously awesome. I spent most of the night marveling at it. Now I want to say how much I love Soccer. It is the world's greatest sport!!! I have missed it so much. Even though I am sore this morning, I still enjoyed playing last night. And I really am not as sore as I thought I would be.
Indoor soccer is different enough from outdoor that I am still slightly confused. How in the world are you supposed to work with the walls?!? I am still trying to figure this out. I can defend against the walls, but my offense totally stunk. And my there really isn't a center half anymore. It is like a roaming center defender. My position is gone. :(
After soccer we went to TCBY and I got my favorite soft served chocolate in a waffle cone!! Good stuff. Which reminds me, RITAS opens up soon. According to their website, "most of our stores open for the season in mid-march. All stores are required to be open two days before the first day of spring each year. It is on the first day of spring that Rita's rewards our customers with a free regular Italian Ice all day at every location in the chain."

Romans 7:1-6
1 Now, dear brothers and sisters--you who are familiar with the law--don't you know that the law applies only to a person who is still living? 2 Let me illustrate. When a woman marries, the law binds her to her husband as long as he is alive. But if he dies, the laws of marriage no longer apply to her. 3 So while her husband is alive, she would be committing adultery if she married another man. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law and does not commit adultery when she remarries.
4 So this is the point: The law no longer holds you in its power, because you died to its power when you died with Christ on the cross. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, you can produce good fruit, that is, good deeds for God. 5 When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced sinful deeds, resulting in death. 6 But now we have been released from the law, for we died with Christ, and we are no longer captive to its power. Now we can really serve God, not in the old way by obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way, by the Spirit.

Since Krissy and a few others have asked...
I spent Valentine's Day as a normal Tuesday.
* I had an 8-9:15 History Class.
* I worked 9:30 - 11:30.
* Did homework from 11:30 - 12:00.
* Sat in Quantum Mechanics from 12:00-1:40.
* Sat in Dynamics from 1:50-3:05.
* I went back to work from 3:15 - 5.
*And then I went to the Hornors and watched Stef cook dinner. I sliced some bread and toasted it. I ate cake powder from the box. Love yellow cake power, especially the kind that has pudding in it.
*Stef and I went and picked out movies at Blockbuster. We are going to watch Waking Ned Divine next week. And we watched some chick flick this week. I forgot the name.
* We ate dinner.
* Watched a movie.
* Ate almost a whole bag of sour patch kids.
* I watched Mr. Hornor try to take the bit out of his drill.
* I watched Mrs. Hornor make the cake that I had eaten part of earlier.
* Then I walked out to my car and went home.
* I got home and started wrapping Stef's birthday present, but Jared came back from playing basketball with the guys in our church and I talked to him for a while. We danced a few steps of foxtrot and then he left.
* And I went back to wrapping my present.
* I talked to Sarah for quite a while.
* Did some more homework.
* And then went to bed.
See, I have never liked the idea that someone had to give me stuff just because it is a certain day of the year. I would much rather be surprised on a random day when I don't expect it. So, I told Jared I didn't want anything for Valentine's Day. It is one day of the year. It doesn't mean any more then every other day that I we are alive. Or that is how I look at it. I've always thought the day was stupid.
It is pretty funny because the men that Jared work with have been asking him what he was getting me for Valentine's Day and he would say nothing and they would be like Jared you can't do that. You have to get her something. You don't understand women. Haha.
So, that is how I spent my day. Pretty exciting huh?!?

I am stealing this from Hannah because it is the only thing that made me get out of bed this morning. I kept singing it to myself over and over again. I really do not like Tuesday mornings. We are renaming the office that I work in. As I told the rest of my office staff today, I really don't care what the new name is because we are just going from one old boring name to a new boring name. You can't be creative when you are working in the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Accountability. I mean, try to rename that something cool. We also have to name the house that we are now in. Something like Admissions house or Alumni House or Camden House (except those are all taken and are boring).
So I was complaining about how boring this is and Jared suggested that we name the house The Ministry of Truth. How cool is that. Reference to 1984. They deal with numbers and research statistics all day. I mean, sure they do change them all the time, but that would be the funny thing. Anyhow, so I suggested this name because I think it would be hilarious, sort of like an inside joke. It would make people smile at least instead of falling asleep or yawning at the name. The people in my office laughed. But it will never go through. But really, that would be the perfect play on words name for us?!?
So I was complaining about how boring this is and Jared suggested that we name the house The Ministry of Truth. How cool is that. Reference to 1984. I found this article online and thought it was interesting.
Many of us grew up enjoying the wildly imaginative rhyming works written and illustrated by Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to us as Dr. Seuss. Bartholomew and the Oobleck, If I Ran the Zoo, Horton Hears a Who!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and many other books involving "ludicrous situations pursued with relentless logic" were the core of many a child's personal library. In 1957, Seuss produced a classic children's tale, The Cat in the Hat, using only the words on an average first-grader's vocabulary list. This work was followed by a series of books employing an ever more limited vocabulary: Ten Apples up on Top!, Hop on Pop, Fox in Socks, and the book that initiated this trend (and is perhaps the best known of all of Seuss' efforts), Green Eggs and Ham.
What prompted this minimalist trend by Dr. Seuss? A dare from his editor, Bennett Cerf, that he write a book using no more than fifty different words. Seuss took Cerf up on his challenge and produced a classic children's work many of us can still recite from memory.

Many of us grew up enjoying the wildly imaginative rhyming works written and illustrated by Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to us as Dr. Seuss. Bartholomew and the Oobleck, If I Ran the Zoo, Horton Hears a Who!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and many other books involving "ludicrous situations pursued with relentless logic" were the core of many a child's personal library. In 1957, Seuss produced a classic children's tale, The Cat in the Hat, using only the words on an average first-grader's vocabulary list. This work was followed by a series of books employing an ever more limited vocabulary: Ten Apples up on Top!, Hop on Pop, Fox in Socks, and the book that initiated this trend (and is perhaps the best known of all of Seuss' efforts), Green Eggs and Ham.
What prompted this minimalist trend by Dr. Seuss? A dare from his editor, Bennett Cerf, that he write a book using no more than fifty different words. Seuss took Cerf up on his challenge and produced a classic children's work many of us can still recite from memory.

Then we headed north on 13 back to campus. Well, this 18 wheeler, carrying cars pulls out in front of us and we don't slow down. I was so certain we were going to run into this truck and all the driver was doing was pressing the horn. I mean, apply the brakes man!!! Apply the breaks. We swerved to the side and then I thought, "oh great, we are going to flip off the road into the ditch. Well at least that will be less painful then running into the truck. Well at least I hope so. " But thankfully, we ended up staying on the road and barely scratching by the truck. Man, I shaking after that. I think I finally started to breath correctly after I got back to my office. I really don't like Mondays.

I have had this song stuck in my head for a while now. Hooray for Avery playing it offertory yesterday. I almost cried. What a beautiful song. I love hymns.
I hate waking up on Monday mornings. But I look forward to Ballroom dancing. We are supposed to learn foxtrot tonight. If Shirley remembers that we finished swing last week. Man, we learned swing until we were dizzy. I really really really want to learn how to waltz. I can't wait until that fun begins. Tonight is week four, which means we are halfway finished. That is sad. I like having something to look forward to on Monday nights. It makes the day not seem as bad. Mondays aren't bad in themselves. It really isn't their fault that they have a whole busy week looming after them. :) They just get the blame for starting the work week.

Praise Be! Two more classes and my first week of school is finished and then onto my first homework filled weekend. I really don't like upper level physics courses, but these engineering classes are amazing. They astound me, like my phyiscs classes, but then they allow me to apply the stuff I learn to real life. Physics keeps it all abstract and out there. With engineering you get to use some of the stuff you learn and play with things. I have been looking forward to playing with things for two and a half years now. It is about time we got to start fiddling with projects. How exciting. And the homework is hard, but it makes sense. It isn't like the physics homework I am doing where I don't know if what I am turning in is right or not. Yeah, crazy world of physics.
Class list:
1) Thermodynamics - Mondays and Wednesdays 11:45-1:00 - UMES (I get to ride my own private bus down to the campus and walk ten minutes to class). This class is going to get harder, with a term paper and project, but I think I am still going to enjoy it.
2) World Civ 102 - Tuesday and Thursday - 8:00 - 9:15 - will probably be my favorite class just because it takes no thought and the papers are easy enough to write in my sleep. :) And I love history because it is interesting and easy all at the same time. w00t.
3) Quantum Mechanics - Tuesday and Thursdays - 12:00 - 1:40 - will be the worst class of the semester because the teacher challenges you to learn everything in the book and also because the subject it crazy. Go read about quantum mechanics when you have a few spare minutes and be astounded. Then think about the math behind it. YUCK.
4) Dynamics - Tuesday and Thursdays - 1:50 - 3:05 - Favorite engineering teacher from last semester. The stuff is hard work, but it is facsinating at the same time. It will be a good class. I'll ahve to study a lot.

The great thing about spring semester is that no matter how bad the weather is and how cold it gets, you know that it is only going to get warmer and more pretty outside. In the fall it is just depressing because you know the days get shorter and darker and colder and even when you finish the semester you have to go back to another semester shortly after. In the spring, it starts staying light longer, the weather is beautiful, flowers start to bloom, birds chirp outside the windows, skies look bluer, and it all points to the summer to come. :) Woohoo.
