Ha ha ha.
I made this quilt top when I was 16. Someone gave me a bunch of old fabric scraps for Christmas one year. It has been sitting on my sewing table since I married Jared. I keep meaning to finish it.
For a while now I have wanted a picnic blanket to keep in the car (for beach trips or to throw over picnic tables or to watch fireworks). I have been trying to figure out a good design. But then I realized I already had the perfect quilt top finished! It is going to be quilted tomorrow. :)
I already love it.
I thought those fabric scraps looked familiar! Looks great!

I am pretty happy with it. I quilted it yesterday and now I just have to sew the binding on.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought about making a second one and using them as the boys quilts on their beds (when they get older). But I know GC is going to make them quilts and they don't need two quilts. Maybe I could make another for our guest bedroon...If we ever have one. :)
Or just make more to curl up under around the house on cold, snowy days...
Also, I don't know how the engineer in me let the squares be so random. That is one reason I love it. I don't think I could make something like this now. It would be much more balanced. :)
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great! In this case I love the way it looks and that it doesn't have a balanced pattern. And it's cool that you were able to use up otherwise worthless scraps and turn them in to something beautiful. And congrats on finishing a project you started so long ago! -Sarah
