Jesus, I Come

  1. I think I have posted this before, but it is one of my favorite igrace songs and it has been stuck in my head since we sang it Sunday night.

  2. This song meant a lot of me during college for several reasons. The first time I remember paying attention to the words was right after my grandmother died. I choked up on verse one and cried during the last verse while we sang it at RUF one night. It just struck me as so beautiful, "out of my sickness and into thy health" and "out of the fear and dread of the tomb, into the joy and light of thy home". I love that whole last verse so much!!! "Ever thy glorious face to behold, Jesus, I come to thee".

  3. The second thing that stuck out to me in this song is verse 3. Engineers are arrogant. This song always reminds me to go back to the cross and remember who I actually am. I am only worthy to be a child of God because of Christ's righteousness, not because of anything I have done.

I am so thankful for the ministry of igrace. I love what they are doing putting new music to not well known hymns. If you are on the Eastern shore on Friday night the 17th, I highly suggest coming to the concert we are hosting at church.

Jesus, I Come

  1. Out of my bondage, sorrow and night,
    Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
    Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
    Jesus, I come to Thee;
    Out of my sickness, into Thy health,
    Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
    Out of my sin and into Thyself,
    Jesus, I come to Thee.
  2. Out of my shameful failure and loss,
    Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
    Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
    Jesus, I come to Thee;
    Out of earth’s sorrows, into Thy balm,
    Out of life’s storms and into Thy calm,
    Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
    Jesus, I come to Thee.
  3. Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
    Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
    Into Thy blessed will to abide,
    Jesus, I come to Thee;
    Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
    Out of despair, into raptures above,
    Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
    Jesus, I come to Thee.
  4. Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
    Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
    Into the joy and light of Thy home,
    Jesus, I come to Thee;
    Out of the depths of ruin untold,
    Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,
    Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
    Jesus, I come to Thee.
