(You) got to have faith!

Jared and I are reading, The Godly Man's Picture by Thomas Watson.
It is an amazing book.
I thought I would share some of my favorite quotes so far.

"** Men think it a shame to be ignorant of their trade, but no shame to be ignorant of God."

** But you have this saving, sanctifying knowledge flourishing in you, BLESS GOD FOR IT; this is the heavenly anointing. The most excellent objects cannot be seen in the dark, but when the light appears, then every flower shines in its native beauty. And in Bible Study, back home is Salisbury, they are reading through AW Pink's The Attributes of God. It is funny how often these two books bring up the same point or compliment each other so well.

"** He can be known only as He is revealed to the heart by the Holy Spirit through the word. The God of scriptures can only be known by those to whom He makes himself known.

** Nor is God known by the intellect. God is Spirit and therefore can only be known spiritually. But fallen man is not spiritual; he is carnal. He is dead to all that is spiritual. Unless he is born again, supernaturally brought from death unto life, miraculously translated out of darkness into light he cannot see the things of God. The Holy Spirit has to shine in our hearts (not intellects) in order to give us "the knowledge of the glory of Jesus Christ". And even that spiritual knowledge is but fragmentary. The regenerate soul has to grom in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus.

** The Principal prarer and aim of Christians should be that we walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God."

So there is what I have been reading. That and this John Piper sermon series that I will comment on later. But I have to get back to homework. I am writing a 30-50 page benchmarking report for my design class. There are five of us working on it. But still, that is a lot of writing to do.

Praise God for life!

Praise God for revealing Himself to us. He didn't need us to know He existed to be powerful and glorious. Actually, He didn't even need to create us to prove that he was faithful and good. Amazing, isn't it?!?
