1. Our tree is up and it looks amazing. I will post pictures (probably after Christmas... ha ha). It looks beautiful!!! It is so fun to have our house decorated with Christmasy things. :)

2. Jared is amazing. I think he is the best husband ever. He makes me laugh every day many times a day and it is so much fun living in the same house and trying to take care of him. We start laughing at the weirdest things and it is so much fun to laugh with Jared. He is so thoughtful and thinks of me all the time even though he is working two jobs and taking two classes.

3. I love cooking. It is so great getting to use all my super nice things that I received for my wedding. Everyone was so nice and sweet to buy me such nice things. I enjoy them all the time. I love my crock pot (oh wait, I bought that... ha ha), hot water kettle, no stick pans, air bake cookie sheets, all my cake pans, spatulas, rub away bar, my sifter, my little plant that Auntie S have me, and my knives. Oh, there is so much that I have so much fun using.

4. My job is going well. The people are all so funny (and if I didn't have a sense of humor and think of myself as a real live Dilbert character I would probably think it was really annoying). Yes, I think that I am working in a real live Dilbert strip. It is great. I work right next to accounting and purchasing and it is great. I laugh to myself all the time. I should write down some of the things I hear, but mostly what makes me laugh is the attitudes and atmosphere of the place. Oh man, it is truly hilarious.

5. Merry Christmas. I don't know what I will be near a computer with blogging access again for a while. Spell check isn't working so... you are going to have to deal with the errors.

Yesterday, while waiting for my sweet potato cans to boil and seal, I went and looked at my phone. I had a missed call from some number I didn't recognize. So I called my voicemail and I had a message from Harvard Custom Manufacturing asking me to come in to an interview today at 9:30. So I called back and confirmed that I could come at 9:30.

When I went in today they interviewed me and made it sound like they wanted to hire me, but in the future when they had a position open. Well, they asked me to wait in this hallway, right by the receptionist. I started talking to her about life and work and other things. The guy who interviewed me came back out and asked me to follow him into another office, which I found out later was the human resource director's office. He talked to me for a while and told me that my credentials were really awesome, but I had no experience so they were going to have to pay me less than a regular engineer with experience. At this point I am going, what? Hire me? Then he said, we really want to hire you because you seem to good to pass up, what would you work for? I should have asked for something, but I really didn't care. ha ha. And his offer ended up being only about 3000 grand less than I was going to ask.

So you are now reading the blog of Harvard's newest junior electrical engineer. Yes!! I am an electrical engineer. I am going to play with wires and circuits and electrical things. I am going to help design the electrical systems for defense vehicles (airplanes, tanks, cars, helicopters... etc).

Praise God. He is so good to me. This job seems like it is perfect for me AND it is only five minutes from my house and it has the same hours at Jared's job (7-4)!! YAY!!

P.S. Did you know that Harvard has over 900 employees? I didn't. The building is HUGE!! They started as a division of Northrop before they became Northrop Grumman. And they work with Lockheed Martin and Boing and Northrop Grumman on most jobs. It is a job that I never expected to find on the Eastern Shore. I thought I would have to be in the DC area to find a job like this. I am so excited. I just have to pass my drug test. :)

Today I came to SU to check my email. I parked in the faculty parking since I figured, "I paid for the permit, why not use it?" The woman I parked next to got out of her car (after I started walking towards the building), looked at the front of my car, and walked back to her car. I am pretty sure she checked to see if I had a red parking pass and if I hadn't had it I bet she would have called the police. ha.

For the last two months I have challenged to not spend any of Jared’s money, or the little money that I earn at SU, on groceries. I have to find creative ways to earn grocery money. I have done a few sewing projects, helped clean Mrs. Shelton’s house before she left, and babysat my nieces and nephews. Also I have cut my grocery bill down to about $15 - $20 a week. This week I spent a little more because I was stocking up on several things we use a lot of (and that won’t go bad). Really the only groceries I need each week are all for Jared’s lunch: lunchmeat, granola bars, yogurts, bananas, oranges, pretzels, and/or chips.

So...what can you buy for $23.43?
I bought all of this.

As seen above, I bought:
* 10 Dannon Fruit-in-the-Bottom Yogurts ($4.00)
* 2 bananas ($0.36)
* 1 can of mandarin oranges ($0.89)
* 8 boxes of Stovetop stuffing ($3.92)
* 5 boxes of Jiffy corn bread ($2.00)
* 1 block of gorgonzola cheese ($1.98)
* 3 tubes of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls ($2.25)
* 4 cans of Campbell’s cream of chicken soup ($1.35)
* 4 can of Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup (1.38)
* 1 package of Always Infinity Pads (free)
* 13 cans of Swanson’s chicken broth ($5.30)

Original price: $65.69
I paid 35.7% of the original price (or for those of you that don’t like percentages, I saved $42.26). Also, note that I bought the nice brand for this price and not just the store brand. That is why I was so excited about my flour last week. Regular flour has a much better feel to it than store brand flour. Most things I will buy store brand, but real flour is so nice. I usually buy the store brand cream soups unless I can get Cambell’s for cheaper, as I did today (34 cents versus 55 cents (at Walmart))! Yay.

I love grocery shopping. It is so much fun. It is a big puzzle that I have to solve each week.

Example: I went to Food Lion (the sale ends today) and went through the line three times today because the chicken broth and cream soups were buy 1 get one free, but it was limit two. But if I bought a combination of six of those products I had coupons for another dollar off. So the first time I bought 4 chicken broths and 2 soups, the second time 4 soups and 2 chicken broths, and the last time 4 chicken broths and 2 soups. I had to buy 4 soups the second time because I also had a coupon for 35 cents off 4 cans of soup.

Oh, and did I tell you that Jared signed up at Wor-Wir to get the Sunday paper for Fwwwweeeeeee!!! I love coupons and matching them with sales. Plus, you can print off coupons online and match them together and save even more money. I can’t do it as well as some of these people online, but I am pretty happy.

Since I don't have internet at my house now, I only check blogs, facebook, and my email about twice a week. I logged on to facebook today and I noticed that it had started making suggestions of who I should talk to (or as they say "reconnect with").  I thought it was sort of amusing when they suggested that I talk to Matt Robins and my sisters more, but today they really made me laugh.  And I realized again how stupid and pointless facebook relationships are.

I mean honestly, do they need to tell me to talk to my husband. There should be some sort of feature on facebook that senses when you are married to someone and it knows that probably you speak more in person that online.  I am so thankful that I live in a real world and not a digital one and that my husband and I can communicate face to face instead of through an artifical means.

I love you Jared, but I am not posting on your wall today because facebook told me to.  I will give you a hug when you leave for work and when you come home.  I will have dinner waiting for you when you run out the door to your next job. I will clean our house today and wash your clothes and put them away.  :)  I don't think I need to message you on facebook to let you know I love you.  Plus, you won't log on to your account for another week or so.  I'd rather let you know now.  :)

Anyhow, being removed from the internet makes most of its uses seem so dumb and a waste of time.  I am thankful I don't have internet at my house anymore.

*edit* Oh, and as you can see I am not friends with Mr. Howard in a digital world either.  I didn't even know he was on facebook until today.  ha.

I am pretty excited because yesterday I found flour at Super Fresh for only $1.50 a bag and if I bought ten bags I received five dollars back. So really they ended up only being $1 a bag. The normal price is $3.13 a bag. You might say that ten bags of flour is a little excessive, but I have gone through five bags of flour since I married Jared. Plus, I am selling my Mom four of those bags. So basically I should have paid $31.30 and I paid $10. I saved $21.30. That is one third of the price!! Yes! I wanted to buy 20 bags, but I don't have enough space to store that many. I hear bread goes on sale at Christmas and Easter too, so hopefully I can restock on more then before the summer rolls around.

Tomorrow I am babysitting the niecews again. I watched them Monday and we made an apple pie. :) That was really fun. Tomorrow I think we are going to build a fort and maybe make an obstacle course. Won't that be fun? It sure beats having our brains sucked out by the television.  I would bake something, but I am only going to be there an hour and a half this time.  I don't think it allows enough time for clean up.  Maybe it will stop raining and we can dig a hole in the ground outside.  :)  I am making a list of ideas.  We are going to have a lot fo fun in the next few weeks.  Next time we bake we are going to do pizza.

This is a new flannel baby quilt that I am making.  I love the purple dots on boarder!!  It is so soft and wonderful.  :)  I am planning on finishing quilting it today or tomorrow.

 I have made two new aprons out of this material. This is a close up of the bottom and the ruffle.  They are both full aprons and so much fun for Christmas.  I need to think of more people to give them to.

These are a few of the things I have made this week:  thin crust pizza, chocolate cake truffles, and apple muffins.  My favorite thing I made was gingerbread thin and chewy cookies.  They were so good.  Yum. Yum. Yum.  I think people are going to get a lot of baked goods for Christmas this year.

I am going to babysit the nieces and nephews today (there should be a word, like sibling that covers all of them... maybe niehews or niphews or nephces).  I might get some pictures if they aren't too crazy.  ha.

I have been without internet for four days now and I have accomplished so much.  I do miss blogging though.  Jared is at work tonight and so I came over to my parent's house to eat dinner, visit, and check my email.  I thought I would write a blog post, but now that I have started I can't think of anything to say.

Jared worked every day last week (poor Jared) at both jobs and Saturday at Target.  I really wish I could find a job... But I am so thankful that at least Jared has work.  I like teaching my one lab a week at SU.  It would be really neat if they would hire me full time or some other school or maybe an engineering or science job.  My brain feels like it is turning to mush!!  I need to do some math and calculations and my baby science students aren't helping me at all.  ha.  I taught two of them unit conversions today because I felt like I needed to inform them of the better things of life.  I don't think they cared or thought it was quite as cool as I did.

I throw in these little interesting things, like why polymers can be melted down and plastics just burn, when I am teaching and they just stare at me.  Sigh.  It was a minute rabbit trail...  People are so lazy.  What happened to going to college to learn and learn all you can?  Drink it in people!!  You will only be there for a limited time and someday in your life you will look back and wish you had learned something.  I loved learning.  I wish I could still take classes.  It is too bad they are so darned expensive.

I'll try to get my laptop to SU this week to post some pictures of my house and my life.  It isn't too high on my list of things to do, but maybe I will get around to it.

Pictures from my week

One of my favorite parts of the laundry is matching up the socks. This is 18 pairs of Jared's sock after only six days. I guess working two jobs and going to the gym is excuse to go through that many socks in one week. Crazy.

This is a baby dress or kids shirt that I sewed last week. I think the pattern is so adorable.  I am not a huge fan of the fabric, but I like to experiment with new patterns and not so great fabric in case I mess up.

I cleaned my whole house thoroughly this week.  It smells so good.  I opened all the window and cleaned them out.  This is what they looked like before.  How does so much dirt get five feet into the air?!?

This is an old shirt of mine that has shrunk.  Note the sleeves and bottom are too short.

I am working on turning it into a child's dress.  The belt is going to be different and I am thinking of putting lace on the bottom of the dress.

Friday I went over to my niece (whom I think I have caught a cold from) and my nephews house to babysit and make gingerbread.  These are all the pictures I had time for.  ha.

And finally, Michelle came this weekend to hang out with my family and me!  Yay, for Michelle and for Anna who takes beautiful pictures.

Pinto Beans that taste better than Chipotle pinto beans and some Spanish Rice

**No pictures because Spanish Rice and Refried beans aren't the prettiest of foods.  **

Spanish Rice
* 2 cups rice
* 2 -15 oz cans of chicken broth
* 1 can diced tomatoes, pureed
* 1 small onion
* 1/2 bell pepper
* 1/2 tsp garlic or 1 clove
* vegetable oil or butter or margarine
* mixed vegetables (optional)

- Notes: I didn't have regular rice because Jared had bought some rice in the bag from when he lived alone (not that he ever cooked it because I found the box unopened, but he had purchased it). I decided to use that up instead of buying new rice. So I didn't follow the directions as they were written. I only used 1-1/4 cups of liquid because that is what the box called for. I basically halved this recipe and then I only cooked it for the time that the box said (10 minutes) instead of the 20 that the recipe calls for. I think it would turn out basically the same. I thought it was a little tomatoy, but I might have added more tomato then it called for. I used tomato paste instead of diced tomatoes. So that could definitely have deepened the flavor of the liquid.

1. Cook the oil/butter/margarine and the rice for about ten minutes. You want the rice to be browning and crunchy. I ended up only cooking mine for about six minutes and then adding the vegetables because it looked like it was almost about to burn. You don't want it to burn, but you want to get as close to possible without burning it.

2. After cooking the rice add the onions, peppers, and mixed vegetables (I used some frozen from a bag). Mix that around until the onions and peppers are soft. Add the garlic and stir around.

3. Mix the tomato puree and the chicken broth together. Pour over the rice. DO NOT STIR. I tilted the pan to even out the broth, but I didn't stir. Let it come to a slow steady boil and cook for 20 - 25 minutes (as I stated, I only cooked mine for ten since it was boil in the bag).

4. Fluff with a fork. Don't use a spoon.

Refried Beans (without the refry)
* 1 onion
* 3 cups dried pinto beans
* 1/2 jalapeno pepper
* 2 T. garlic
* 5 tsp. NaCl (salt)
* 1-3/4 tsp. black pepper
* 1/8 tsp. ground cumin
* 1 - 2 tsp. chili powder
* 9 cups of H2O (water)

1. Mix all in the slow cooker. Cook on high for 8 hours (I found that it didn't take quite this long. Mine were ready in 4-6 hours, but I halved the recipe, so maybe that made a difference, however when I left them in for the full 8 hours they were 10 times better than they were at 4 hours). Add more water if needed during cooking if it looks like their isn't any water left (I didn't add more water and I let them cook down until there was only a little liquid left). You might want to take some out and mash them in a bowl with a fork and see if they need any more seasonings. I added more garlic, cumin, and chili powder.  Be careful because they will be spicier at the end than when you test them at 4 or 6 hours.

* note: I skipped step 2 and served them whole in the juice that they had made.  There wasn't very much juice left and it reminded me of Chipotle pinto beans.  I tasted them after 8 hours in the crockpot and I was so happy to taste Chipotle.  They are a little spicier than Chipotle pinto beans, but that is even better.  I love them!

2. Drain the liquid into a bowl. Mash the remaining pinto beans with a potato masher. They should still be chunky when you are finished. Only canned refried beans are completely smooth. Add any liquid back into the beans that you think you want. You can make them as thick or as thin as you want.

3. I serve mine with cheese and sour cream. I also served it with the above rice recipe, flour tortillas, spinach, and carnitas.

~Faith

P.S. I had forgotten that the work halved is spelled like that. I wanted to put halfed. What other words are similar to that in the English language?

P.P.S. You aren't getting the carnitas recipe because I didn't like them at all. The rest of the awesome food hid their boring flavor, but they aren't worth making again. I will continue to search for a recipe for them.

Tuesday Dinner

For dinner tonight we will be having flour tortillas, carnitas, refried beans, and all the taco toppings that are normally included (sour cream, cheese, spinach, salsa, peppers, corn...etc.). I never knew how easy it was to make tortillas until today. It is also a lot of fun!

Flour Tortillas
(makes 12 - 24 depending on the size and thinnest you make them)
* I fourthed the recipe and made 5.

* 4 cups flour
* 2 tsp. NaCl (Salt)
* 2 tsp. baking powder
* 2 T. lard, shortening, butter... etc. (I used butter flavored shortening because that is all I have)
* 1-1/2 cup warm or hot H2O (water)

1. Mix dry ingredients together.

2. Cut in the shortening. I use a pastry cutter, but the recipe said it could be done by hand as well. I enjoy using a pastry cutter. It is rewarding to me.

3. Mix in the first cup of water and mix around (I use my right hand so I don't get my rings dirty). Add the last 1/2 cup bit by bit as you need it. I found that I didn't need the full amount of water. Knead it a little bit until it is smooth and elasticity.

4. The recipe said to divide it into the 24 balls, but I pulled a piece off for the first one just to play around and see how large I wanted the balls to be. I ended up making them a little larger then what the recipe called for. If I made the full batch I would probably make about 16 or 18 out of it. That would make you about the larger size of flour tortillas. After I figured out the size I wanted I divided them into balls of equal size.

5. Roll them out until they are really thin, on a floured surface. I have a nifty little piece of Teflon or something that I use to keep the flour from spreading all over the counter. I don't like to clean up flour and this makes clean up a bit easier. I wish it were twice the size; I usually end up rolling off the edge.

6. Place them into a hot skillet (that you have already heated up). There is no need for grease or anything in the pan. I had my stove setting on 8 or 9 to warm it up and then I decreased that down to 6 or 7 because they started to burn. They should heat about 30 - 60 seconds on each side or until they have a few of those little brown circles on them. If you cook them too much they will become crispy and unable to be folded (or that is what I read on the comment section of the recipe).

7. Enjoy. You can sort of see the first one that I made under the second one. It was a little bit larger until I ate it. I thought it was a bit too large. This would be the size of the tortilla if you made 16 balls out of the dough. The second one came out a good size. It was about the size of what you would get if you made 20 balls out of the dough.

If my refried beans turn out well, I will post the recipe of them tomorrow. I found a slow cooker recipe for them. I love refried beans! They smell wonderful, but still have five hours to cook.

Monday Dinner

Thin Crust Pizza
Recipe adapted from Frugal Girl.

10 ounces unbleached all-purpose flour (about 2 cups)
1/2 teaspoon yeast
1/2 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
6.2 ounces water (about 3/4 cup plus 1 1/2 teaspoons), 100 to 105 degrees
1/4 cup olive oil(I used 1/2 vegetable oil & 1/2 applesauce)

PREHEAT OVEN AND PIZZA STONE TO 425 degrees.

1. Mix everything but the water and oil in the bowl.

2. Mix in the water.

3. Mix in the applesauce (I love applesauce as a substitute for oil - I use it all the time). Then mix in the oil and make sure it gets distributed throughout.

4. The recipe says to take the dough out and knead it, but I usually just knead it around in the bowl. I don't enjoy wiping flour up from my counters.

5. Place it in some dish in the refrigerator. I don't know why you are supposed to do this because I made a mini pizza before I put it in the refrigerator and after and I didn't see a difference. You are supposed to leave it in there over night, but I wanted it to be ready for dinner.

6. Now the recipe calls for you to roll it out on parchment paper and that way you can stick it onto the hot pizza stone in the oven. However, I made smaller pizzas so that I could stick them directly onto the pizza stone. I rolled them about six or seven inches in diameter (on cornmeal). Then I placed them on the pizza stone and let them cook for about two or three minutes (or until firm enough to pick up with a spatula and able to carry their own weight and not flop around). I rolled mine as thin as I could without them breaking because they will shrink a little when they are moved around.

7. Add pizza sauce and toppings. Place place on pizza stone in the oven for about 10 - 15 minutes depending how crunchy you want your thin crust to be.

And thanks to the Townsends for the peppers and the pumpkin. I went over to Rachel's on Saturday, while Jared was at work, and carved this wonderful little pumpkin. I think it turned out really well.

For the want of food coloring, the cookies were only white...

These are the first Gingerbread of the year!! I really like the tree cookie cutter I got on clearance last year. It reminds me of Dr. Suess and a Whotree. The lighthouse came from Maine (we bought a moose shaped one too). I added sprinkles to these since 1. I am not artistic with the icing and 2. We don't own food coloring. I'll post pictures of Jared's gingerbread cookies later (maybe this batch or maybe next time).

I don't know why, but these are some of my favorite lyrics and music in a Newsboys song:

For the want of a compass
we'd be shuffling charts
For the want of good radar
we'd be glacier parts
For the want of a lighthouse
can't you see
we'd be lost at sea
lost at sea

A wedding thank you for my sifter!!

This post is for the person who was kind enough to go online and have the sifter with the spinning handle instead of the squeeze handle. Target wouldn't let me register for the spinning handle one and I don't enjoy using the squeeze handle ones because my hand starts hurting after a while (plus the spinning handle is simply more fun). The package arrived a week or so after the wedding and my parents brought it to Avery's wedding to hand off to me. However, when I opened it it came with no card. I was so excited at the time, but between writing thank yous and unpacking other gifts I simply unpacked it and put it on the shelf. I completely forgot about posting this. About a month ago, I went to post this thank you and the internet was down and then I forgot again.

So this is to you, whoever you are, I love my sifter and it makes me life so much easier. Thank you for the wonderful, thoughtful gift! I was so happy and surprised when I opened. I am sorry this thank you is three months and a day late. I used it tonight to make gingerbread cookies and it is lovely. It will last me many happy baking years!

Christmastime has started because of you and Jared is going to be so happy when he comes home from work and the house smells delicious and when he has gingerbread cookies in his lunchbox. :)

* To everyone else, if you know of anyone that has mentioned they didn't get a thank you note, maybe you could let me know who gave me this gift and pass that along. Thanks!

Baby shoes and apple sauce

Five sets of baby shoes made.
If Linnea and Ben ever have a girl they will be getting a pair made from the little flowered material since I bought it with Linnea on an ICEE run a long time ago.

Challenge to fill all 24 quart jars before Jared comes home from work.
Bonus if you get them all sealed as well.

Peel apples with one hand, while stirring the pot with another hand. During that take time to mashed the cooked apples, season them, fill the jars with the complete applesauce, and boil and blend (in the blender) the skins and their juice to give the applesauce a nice reddish brown color.

11 jars finished. Three hours down. Three hours to go.
I ended up only getting 20 of the jars sealed by the time Jared came home, but they were all filled!!
Here is a picture of my kitchen and how I used every available space. ha. The counter on the let was used to hold my empty, washed jars and lids. Next to it in the corner is my blender and next to that was my pile of dirty dishes. In the sink were the apples in warm water being washed. In the right corner was the apple peeler, bowl for peeled apples, and the bag for the cores and peels to go into. On the stove was a pot for the jars, a pot for the jar lids, a pot for the apples, and a saucepan for the apple peels. In the foreground of the picture you can see the table with my mixing bowl, all my seasonings, and the jars being filled. It was crazy. It was fun. I love making applesauce!!

I had the most fascinating tour of a shipyard today. They let me climb all over four decks of the cruise ship. I walked around in my (Jared's old boots), hard hat, and safety glasses. It was great fun. Then the engineers took me to the office and showed me all the software, blueprints, shop drawings, and videos of boat launchings. Woohoo. Anyone that is still homeschooled should try to get a tour. :)

baby shoes

The next person to have a little girl will be receiving these as a shower gift or maybe an improved version of these (depending on how much I start playing with this pattern). I think buttons would look really cute on the toes.

I put them next to scissors to show you the size. Aren't they absolutely adorable?!? I think I might make them in flannel next. That would be so cozy.

* I read a blog called, Frugal Girl every once in a while. She is giving away $100 gift card to buy groceries. All you have to do is comment on her post. Read the rules and comment.
I suggest reading her blog sometimes too. It is really interesting.

For Sale

I just finished two half aprons. They are absolutely adorable and will be for sale soon at Towns End. They both come with a matching mitt (optional, of course). I am selling half aprons for $15 and the half apron plus mitt for $18. Considering that it takes almost a full yard of material to make these (and the material retails at $8.80 a yard) and that I used 1.5 yards of lace trim ($1.75 a yard) fifteen dollars isn't a lot. Think of all the time you will save by buying one for a present for someone. :)

It's even cuter in person!!
The ruffle took forever to get right on this one. But it looks amazing now. And yes, those are sheep and chickens on the apron.

I love the way it fits!!!!
Jared and I went to visit the Howards, Katie Hall, and Michelle this weekend. If you aren't busy next weekend I would suggest going to see Katie as Beth in Little Women the Musical. I was quite impressed. It was excellent and very entertaining. Jared was singing in this picture and I was trying to get him with his mouth fully open, but I failed every time. This is the best I took.
And here is a sneak peak at my newest little kids quilt. I am going to hand quilt this while Jared reads to me. It will also be for sale soon.
Yesterday, around noon, I was working in the kitchen when the doorbell rang. I walked to the doorway and a workman from the neighbors house was standing there. He told me that one of our power lines had just fallen down. There on the ground lay the power line, right behind my car in the driveway. Since it was a live line I couldn't go in my car to get my lab reports that I had left in there or drive the car to teach my lab. I thanked him and went back inside and called Jared.

Then I spent the next half hour trying to convince the power company that I knew what I was talking about and it wasn't just a phone line. When the power company didn't show up I called the fire department and they came and barracked the end of my streets until the power company showed up around 1:30. They turned off the power, cut down the old wire that was still hanging from my dogwood and laying across the driveway, and let me back out my car just in time for my lab.

Meanwhile during all this I received two phone calls from people about coming in to talk to them about jobs. :) Thankfully, I had my phone with me (which I normally don't have on a weekday) and I was able to make rational conversation. I now have interviews on Tuesday at 4pm and Wednesday at 9am. If you think about it during those times, feel free to pray for me. Thanks!

I have a dreadful fear of the phone. I have to work myself up to calling people (even though I enjoy talking to them). Usually when I am calling about a job I sit by the phone and stare at it for half an hour. I punch the number in and I clear it. I punch it in again and I clear it again. I walk around the room. I stare at my phone again. Once I finally call I usually have to either leave a voicemail or leave a message with a secretary which means that I have to wait for a phone call. This makes the situation even worse! sigh. It makes me want to turn off my phone and make them leave me a message. blah.

In other happy news, I started a new project and I finished my table runner, but I failed to take a picture of that for you. ha. This is going to be a kids blanket. I thought the kit was cute and so I bought it at the Dusty Attic.

Chocolate cake I made for Peter and Emily Render, but there was extra batter so I made one for Jared and Matt last night too.

I need more room in my freezer. ha.
And in my cupboards.
Lastly, a picture of my counter and my plant that Mrs. Huntington gave me. Isn't it so pretty?!? Oh and the watermelon that decided to burst all over the counter. ha. Jared and I came home Monday night and there was water all over the counter and we were so confused where it had come from. Finally we realize the watermelon was leaking. Weird.

A few photos from my week...

My first purse/bag. I learned a lot about what not to do while making this bag (which now needs a good home... any takers?). Hopefully the next one is much better.

Today I received an email from a sewing shop in Salisbury at 1:30 and they closed at 3. The email said they were having a 75 percent off sale if you bought the rest of the bolt. I spend 70 (retail would have been 9 dollars a yard or $280) dollars on 31.5 yards of fabric or 94.5 FEET of fabric. YES!! And the best part of it all is that besides the dark green (which is going to be the backing for a quilt I am making) the rest is MODA!! I am in love. I walk around the house with my bolts of fabric and hug them. :)

I am so happy!
11 yards of blue
9 yards of yellow
8.5 yards of the dark green
3 yards of light green
Recently I have been trying to make a light and fluffy muffin. This is my second attempt. They were good, but not quite fluffy enough.
This is an update on the table runner. It is quilted now. I am working on the binding. That is my favorite part. Jared hasn't been around to read to me so I haven't sewn in on yet.
My first attempt at muffins. Again, they were really really good, but not fluffy. These tasted like little apple cakes, but they were totally healthy (oatmeal, applesauce instead of oil, flax...).
My desk in my office at SU has my name on it... weird.
Last Saturday I went to see the praise team play at the gospel shop. When it started raining we all went under the overhanging with the band (all of us but Mr. Badger).
A shot of them before it started raining.
