So for his birthday we drew up plans for a rabbit hutch and his them at the end of a treasure hunt. Jared and he went to Lowes and picked up all the supplies and built the hutch over the next few weekends (which is why the mudroom has on hold since February). The rabbit was 8 weeks old and able to leave her family this week. She is the sweetest and softest thing.

Ps. Your kids are going to like different things then you. Remember how much I disliked the Green Ember… it made it on my dislike list of books for the year a few years ago (2019 I think). Well, it is one of the oldest sons favorite books. Originally this rabbit was supposed to be a boy, but the litter was all girls. So instead of being named Smalls Jupiter, he changed the name to Heather Longtreader. Welcome, Heather!

Pps. My vote for a name was Pickles Folger from Redwall.
faithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14759107905978803294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13338663.post-14942919875042883072023-04-13T20:06:00.003-04:002023-04-13T20:06:54.281-04:00Books of 2022
I am just a bit late posting my list of books for 2022...

2021 List (There are links to lists from 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 in that link)

A few notes:

a) I read:
70 books.
17610 pages
48 pages a day

b) My top three read authors were:
Dale Ralph Davis
E. It is perfect. And the light grey dots help to soften it up and make it less crazy looking. It is amazing how borders make a quilt look so much different. I considered doing a coral border, which would have made the quilt a bit louder (but more fun), but they didn’t have any fabric that matched at Hobby Lobby and I didn’t feel like spending hours searching for a fabric online and waiting for it to be delivered (although since we were sick for so long, I guess I could have).

I spent about 1 hour ironing the top and bottom and another 45 minutes getting it all sandwiched, stuck together, and smoothed out.

Next up is quilting! I’m guessing that will be about three hours. This is the widest quilt I’ve ever made so getting it all scrunched under my little machine is going to be more challenging. I’ve made baby quilts that are square, but never a full size quilt.
faithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14759107905978803294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13338663.post-30718309872215099532022-12-28T20:14:00.001-05:002022-12-28T20:14:18.363-05:00Still Sick
The first kid to get sick is slowly getting better. He still went to bed at 6:30pm tonight. It has been 10 days. The other three started being sick two days after him and had fevers for six days that, hopefully, ended yesterday. They seemed to be a bit more lively today (at least they were able to make it through a meal without falling asleep, having to rest their head on the table, or crying).

We have spent the majority of the time on the couch reading books, listening to books, or napping. No one has had energy for moving around the room or eating. I have been alternating between passing out cough syrup and fever reducers and filling up glasses with water and juice and pestering them to drink.

I think we are turning the corner, but I haven’t had a chance to work on my quilt at all. Even though my fever is gone I’m still aching all over and worn out by little tasks. I will be grateful for good health after this. What a blessing it is to easily roll out of bed most mornings. And it is a wonder to sleep through the whole night without feverish, coughing children waking you up. It is easy to take those things for granted when you have them so easily without interruption.

Maybe I’ll have quilt updates next week. I’m going to rest until next year. :) Also, my book list for 2022 should be coming soon. Thanks to being sick and a few audio books, I hit 70 books! There is a silver lining to being sick.
faithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14759107905978803294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13338663.post-4802980008452563892022-12-23T16:40:00.001-05:002022-12-23T16:40:00.180-05:00Dress prototype and we have the flu

I bought this doll and it came with one dress. We’ve decided to call 2022 the year of sickness. So I haven’t done any more on my quilt. It is stalled. But I actually have an extra week or two of wiggle room because the recipient and we aren’t doing Christmas until later.

So instead of a quilt or a house project, I have a fun antique find. We found this deacon bench (a few weeks ago) while looking for stained glass. We didn’t find any stained glass, but this is going in either the mudroom or front entry way once we finish moving things around. It is sitting in our living room waiting currently to be moved to its new home someday.

It is solid oak and in perfect condition. Isn’t it lovely? We knew we had to buy it when the price tag said $160. What a steal.

The kids are currently storing their hats and gloves in the bench and I love that they are out of sight.
faithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14759107905978803294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13338663.post-60445112273114427812022-12-21T16:45:00.000-05:002022-12-21T16:45:01.105-05:00A door in the wall and brown paper packages

The part closest to the window will be a little sitting area or play area to the left. So not much sewing this week because the kids all needed lots of mom time. So this week has been filled with lots of art project, models, read alouds, and audio books. The World Cup has given us plenty of math practice with its wacky scoring system. When the World Cup stated we colored all the flags and looked at where country is on the map. We take the county flags down as they are eliminated.
faithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14759107905978803294noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13338663.post-7653138664218574142022-12-03T07:47:00.001-05:002022-12-03T07:47:00.172-05:00Extra picture of quilt

I don’t think I ever posted a finished picture of this quilt I made in 2021 for a friend of ours with brain cancer. If you look closely I quilted the words, “We rest on the, our shield and our defender” into the quilting. It is kind of a pun. You can say to the quilt, “We rest on thee”. :) But it was also a prayer and a reminder of God’s grace and goodness.
